This highly collectible 2 Euro bimetallic coin, issued by Monaco in 2009, commemorates the 10th Anniversary of the Economic and Monetary Union (EMU). While the design is common across all Eurozone countries that participated in this issue, the national side always features the Grand Duke or Head of State. For Monaco, this means Prince Albert II's effigy is present, making it particularly valuable due to its extremely low mintage. The "UNC" (Uncirculated) quality indicates the coin is in pristine condition, as issued from the mint.

Common Design (Reverse of the commemorative):
The central design, chosen through an EU-wide competition, depicts a simplistic yet powerful image symbolizing the concept of the Euro as the culmination of a long history of trade and economic relations. It features a stylized human figure intertwined with the Euro symbol (€). The inscription "EMU 1999-2009" appears at the top. The names of the issuing country (MONACO) and the event (ÉCONOMIQUE ET MONÉTAIRE) are written in the respective language around the outer edge of the design. This common design was created by George Stamatopoulos.

National Side (Obverse of the commemorative, Unique to Monaco):
The national side of the coin features the effigy of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco facing left, as is standard for all Monegasque 2 Euro coins. The name of the issuing country, "MONACO," is inscribed at the top, and the year "2009" is at the bottom, flanked by the mint mark and the mint master's mark. The twelve stars of the European Union are placed on the outer ring of the coin.
